The GA exam costs $200 and lasts 2 hours. Passing it opens a second, hands-on part in Google Skills that must be finished within 2 months, and the certification is granted only when both parts are passed. It is valid for 1 year.

How many questions the GA exam has

Google has not published the count. The FAQ says the GA exam "will follow the standard Google Cloud professional exam format," and the other 2-hour professional exams list these formats on their official pages:

ExamLengthQuestions
Professional Cloud Architect2 hours50 to 60, multiple choice and multiple select
Professional Machine Learning Engineer2 hours50 to 60, multiple choice and multiple select
Professional Data Engineer2 hours40 to 50, multiple choice and multiple select
Professional Agentic Architect beta3 hoursAbout 80

The beta was longer because beta exams carry a larger pool of questions, some of which are dropped after Google analyzes how they performed; the FAQ says a beta can take up to twice as long as the final exam. The full simulation on this site uses 50 questions in 120 minutes, 2.4 minutes per question, with multiple-select questions included.

Passing score and results

Google does not publish a passing score for this exam. Results arrive in CM Connect as pass or fail within 7 to 10 business days. Beta results took longer, about 3 to 4 weeks after the beta closed, because the beta data was used to set the passing standard for the GA exam.

Registering and taking the exam online

  • Registration for the GA exam opens in mid-November 2026, from the certification page. You choose an online-proctored session or a test center.
  • Online sessions can be launched from 10 minutes before to 20 minutes after the scheduled time. A session not launched in that window is cancelled and the fee is lost.
  • Check-in, identity verification and the room check take 5 to 15 minutes; the full 2 hours start after that.
  • No breaks. Taking one cancels the session and Google rejects the result. Medical accommodations are requested in CM Connect before scheduling and take 2 to 4 weeks.
  • Closed-book: no notes, and nothing on the desk except the computer.

If you do not pass

You can retake the exam after 14 days. After a second failed attempt the wait is 60 days, and after a third it is 365 days. Every attempt counts toward the limit regardless of language or delivery method, and each registration is paid in full. Beta attempts do not count toward the number of allowed attempts, and beta candidates who failed can retake the exam at GA.

Part 2: the hands-on labs

After you pass, CM Connect gives you access to the Professional Agentic Architect labs in Google Skills. They are a separate set, available only to candidates who passed the exam, and distinct from the labs in the public learning path. They check that you can build and run agents in a live Google Cloud project. You have 2 months to complete them. Beta candidates had two labs with an estimated total time of under 5 hours. Passing the multiple-choice exam alone does not grant the certification or the badge.

One-year validity

Other Google Cloud professional certifications are valid for 2 years. Google gives this one a single year because agent tooling changes quickly, and the FAQ says a continuous education path will be available to keep it active. Google has not yet published how that path works.

Who the exam is for

There are no formal prerequisites. Google recommends 3 or more years of hands-on experience building, testing, deploying and managing cloud solutions, including at least 1 year building agentic solutions on Google Cloud.
